Geotextile fabric

Geotextile fabric have a variety of uses in both civil engineering and landscaping. Used to strengthen, at the soils tension point, geotextiles enable reinforcement and drainage, protecting the soil from further erosion and allowing planting on steep slopes. They may also be used to stabilise flows in water channels, to prevent streams or rivers from further eroding the land. Ultimately, geotextiles rot away, over a period of years to create humus, further enriching the soil. You can purchase Geotextile type 5 from KD Recycling, as part of our landscape supplies.

Landscape fabric

Landscape fabric is typically used under mulches or soils as an effective weed control. The advantage of landscape fabric over plastic is that the soil or mulch drains naturally and there is less likelihood of the fabric tearing – a problem with plastic. This ensures continued weed control. KD Recycling can provide landscape fabric and mulches, direct to your premises, as part of their landscape supplies service.

Straw blankets

Straw blankets are another important form of erosion control and, being photo and biodegradable, they are an environmentally friendly solution. Pinned to the surface, using staples, where there is a risk of movement, due to slope or water run-off, the straw blankets bind to the soil, preventing further erosion and degrading, naturally over a period of years to ensure stability in the area of control.
